Q. How often should you have your tank pumped?

A. There are a lot of variables to how often you pump your septic system.  Such as the number of people in the home.  The amount of water used, garbage disposal use and the size of the tank.  The size of the septic tank should be determu=ined by number or bedrooms in the home. 

For an average home the following is recommended for pumping you septic tank:

Home with 1 person: Every 5 to 7 years
Home with 2 people:  Every 5 years
Home with 3 people: Every 3 years
Home with 4 to 5 people: Every 2 years

  • Disposable diapers & baby wipes
  • Cat litter
  • Don't dump RV's holding tank into your septic tank
